About me

Hello! After living in four different states in four years,
I found my way back home to Chicago, just west
of the city in Oak Park. I live here with my wife and daughter and beagles.

I'm a Marquette University graduate, a recovering journalist and tennis pro, and if you can't find me I'm probably outside staring at the night sky.

I write young adult novels, and love characters
who are broken in the most beautiful of ways.

Good things come to those who ask.

One day I asked if I could help run the
Adler Planetarium's Doane Observatory. They said yes

Which led me to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Which led me to a NASA ambassadorship program.

Which led me to create star parties and do classroom talks.

Which led me to write a book about a boy and his telescope.
